That’s the advanced level! Definitely important for couples planning immediate parenthood, but for a basic pre-marital screen, I usually stick to the essentials first to avoid burning a hole in their pocket on day one
Rahul Dev @meetrahuldev
Dr. if you expand the perspective beyond exclusively medical, unless parenthood is totally out of plans….getting such tests in advance is way better than later stages when these numbers result in mental stress and in case of shocking numbers…these reports form the main annexures of divorce petitions and domestic violence / harassment cases…
I am sure everyone knows the top most ground alleged during court cases is impotency…
Nobody …
@durga_im
Imagine other party get to know Testosterone level and PCOS details . If anything wrong comes up .. not only this alliance will break but also all future alliances will become nearly impossible, given how our society works . Important but dangerous in our society.
Rahul Dev @meetrahuldev
That’s exactly what happens in court cases when these issues snowball into astronomical proportions later on…plus it creates documentary records and judges, lawyers, police and government gets involved at all stages…
$22,000 on a sleep study, a psychiatrist, two neurologists, and 18 months of Ambien before someone tested his cortisol pattern
Had a client come to me after almost 2 years of severe insomnia. Not "trouble falling asleep." Waking up at 2-3am every single night with his heart pounding, drenched in sweat, brain racing. Couldn't fall back asleep. Tried everything. Melatonin. Magnesium. CBD. Trazodone. Ambien
Sleep study said no apnea. Psychiatrist said anxiety. Neurologist #1 said "some people are just light sleepers." Neurologist #2 said try a weighted blanket
Nobody drew a cortisol curve
We ran a 4-point salivary cortisol. His pattern was inverted. Cortisol was low in the morning (which is why he needed 45 minutes and 3 coffees to feel alive) and spiking at 2am. His adrenals were dumping cortisol in the middle of the night because his blood sugar was crashing while he slept because his liver glycogen was depleted because he'd been undereating for a year trying to lose weight on some influencer's deficit plan
That's it. That was the whole problem.
What fixed it:
> Added 400 more calories before bed. Specifically carbs and protein to sustain liver glycogen overnight. Rice + eggs + a glass of milk
> Stopped the caloric deficit entirely. Moved to maintenance calories with enough starchy carbs to keep glycogen topped up
> Added salt to meals (sodium supports adrenal function and blood sugar regulation)
> Dropped the intense evening training that was further depleting glycogen stores
Within 10 days he slept through the night for the first time in a year and a half
$22,000. 4 practitioners. 18 months of a Schedule IV controlled substance. And the fix was eating a bowl of rice and eggs before bed
If you're waking up between 1-4am with your heart pounding, your blood sugar is probably crashing. Eat more. Especially before bed
I go deep on cortisol, sleep, and the metabolic causes behind insomnia on my substack. link in bio if you want the full breakdown
The liver is
the mother of the gut,
the sister of the thyroid,
the daughter of the brain,
the brother of the spleen,
the husband of the pancreas,
the closest ally of the gallbladder,
and the sugar daddy of the adrenals.
Disturb the liver… and the whole family starts misbehaving.
Digestion slows.
Hormones wobble.
Sugar control collapses.
Inflammation rises.
People chase symptoms.
Doctors who understand physiology look at the liver first.
When you load a barbell and grind through a heavy set, your muscle cells rupture at the microscopic level. That mechanical damage triggers a signaling cascade that most people never learn about. The contracting muscle fibers start secreting molecules called myokines directly into your bloodstream. Your skeletal muscle is functioning as an endocrine organ, broadcasting chemical signals to your brain, your liver, your fat tissue, and your immune system simultaneously.
One of those myokines, irisin, crosses into the brain and triggers production of BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor. BDNF is the single most important molecule for neuronal survival, dendritic growth, and synaptic plasticity. It binds to TrkB receptors in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. The hippocampus governs memory consolidation. The prefrontal cortex governs attention, decision-making, and impulse control. A single resistance training session elevates circulating BDNF by 30-38% above baseline.
Three months of consistent training increases hippocampal volume by 12% in healthy adults.
Meanwhile, the metabolic stress from heavy lifting drops your muscle cell pH, which signals your hypothalamus to release growth hormone and testosterone. Those anabolic hormones further upregulate myokine production, creating a positive feedback loop between your muscles and your brain that strengthens every time you train.
Here’s the part that explains the “everything got better overnight” feeling. A 2022 meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine tracked all-cause mortality against weekly resistance training volume.
30 to 60 minutes per week produced a 10-20% reduction in death from all causes, cancer, and heart disease. The benefits plateaued at one hour.
Two hours per week actually showed diminishing returns.
The minimum effective dose is absurdly low. One study followed nearly 15,000 people for seven years. They trained once per week, roughly 20 minutes per session, and gained 30-50% more strength. Most of those gains came in the first year.
Sleep improves because testosterone secretion is sleep-dependent and resistance training normalizes the cortisol-to-testosterone ratio.
Mood stabilizes because BDNF acts on the same serotonergic and dopaminergic pathways targeted by antidepressants.
Cognitive fog clears because your prefrontal cortex is literally growing new synaptic connections. Anxiety drops because the anti-inflammatory myokine cascade suppresses the chronic low-grade inflammation that drives most mood disorders.
30 minutes of heavy compound movements converts your 40 pounds of skeletal muscle from dead weight into an endocrine organ.
The prescription writes itself every time you pick up something heavy enough to matter.
"Without Silence, Sadhana is Futile."
[Secrecy is the prerequisite for success of sadhana]
In many spiritual traditions, secrecy is considered essential to the success of sadhana (disciplined spiritual practice) for several reasons.
Publicly discussing one's practices or "achievements" often leads to a desire for fame and validation. This fuels the ego, which is the very thing sadhana aims to dissolve. Discussing experiences often invites praise, which feeds the ego—the very obstacle sadhana is meant to dissolve.
Secrecy acts like a "fence" around a young plant; it allows the spiritual energy (shakti) to mature and bear fruit rather than being "dispersed" or "eaten" by the opinions and energies of others.
Keeping a practice private preserves the "purity of frequency" and avoids interference from external mental projections or expectations.
Traditional some of the examples of secrecy...
Your Ishta Devata.
Your Guru, (except when appropriate to share).
Your Diksha Mantra.
Personal Spiritual Realizations or "confidential truths" revealed during practice. etc...
While indiscriminate sharing disperses spiritual energy and feeds the ego, revealing one's inner state to a Guru is the sacred exception. The Guru acts as a protective mirror, ensuring that experiences are correctly processed, validated, and anchored without leaking the potency of the practice.
sadhana is a "divine wealth" that simply requires proper protection to remain effective.

In the context of the Ganesh Stuti in Vinaya Patrika—and broader Vedic symbolism—the Modak (laddu) is much more than just a sweet. It is a profound spiritual metaphor for the ultimate goal of human life.
Here is a deep dive into what the laddu signifies:
1. The Sweetness of Inner Knowledge (Atma-Jnana)
A traditional Modak is hard or plain on the outside but filled with a sweet, rich core (jaggery and coconut).
Symbolism: This represents the spiritual path. The initial discipline of practice (Sadhana) might seem plain or difficult, but once you break through the outer shell of the ego, the "inner nectar" of Self-realization is incredibly sweet.
In Vinaya Patrika: Tulsidas Ji calls Him 'Modak-priya' to remind us that the Lord loves those who seek this inner sweetness rather than outward show.
2. The "Concentrated" Result of Joy
The word Modak itself comes from the Sanskrit word 'Moda', which means "joy," "delight," or "happiness."
Symbolism: A laddu is made by binding many tiny grains (boondi or flour) together into a single solid sphere.
Deep Meaning: This signifies the concentration of the mind. When your scattered thoughts (grains) are bound together by devotion, they become a "Modak"—a single, holistic experience of joy. Ganesha, as the Buddhi-Vidhata (Giver of Wisdom), helps "bind" our scattered intellect.
3. The Reward of Liberation (Mukti)
In many iconographies, Ganesha holds the laddu in His lower left hand, often near His trunk.
Symbolism: It represents the Siddhi (perfection) and Mukti (liberation) that a devotee eventually "tastes."
The Trunk Connection: The trunk is always shown reaching for or touching the laddu. This signifies that a person with a highly developed "Viveka" (the trunk’s ability to discriminate between a needle and a heavy log) can eventually enjoy the fruits of liberation.
4. The Finished Product of "Purna" (Completeness)
A laddu is a perfect sphere. In Indian philosophy, the circle/sphere represents Purnata (Wholeness or Infinity).
Deep Meaning: By offering or mentioning the laddu, Tulsidas Ji acknowledges Ganesha as the one who brings a task to a "full circle" or completion. This is why He is the Siddhida (Giver of Completion).
5. Management Perspective: The Fruit of Effort
The laddu represents the ROI (Return on Investment) of spiritual and mental labor.
It is the "tangible result" of a long process (grinding, mixing, cooking).
Ganesha holding the laddu signifies that He is the "Master of Results." He doesn't just manage the process; He holds the final outcome in His hand.
Summary
When Tulsidas Ji says "Modak-priya, mud-mangal-data," he is saying:
"You who love the sweetness of pure wisdom, and who rewards the concentrated effort of the devotee with the fruit of eternal joy."
